Quiet Periods as FreelancersâHERE IS WHAT TO DO! đ
Take this chance to do the things you canât do during a chaotic period. During a busy period of handling clients, chasing invoices, proposing ideas, and designing, there wonât really be time to breathe, so I take this quiet period as an opportunity for some REST.
Rest is a big part of your work when youâre a creativeâItâs not only essential for your body to rest, it also allows projects and ideas to brew, and it also helps the brain to continuously get inspired. It sounds insane, but this âinactionâ is a big part of the action you take toward your goals.
A lot of us feel guilty to rest and relax but itâs normal to allow your body and mind to take a break from work and hustling, they canât run foreverâeven your phone needs to charge.
I also notice that when I come back to work after a good rest, my ideas are filtered and refined. When you rest and recalibrate, the things you forget are just not meant for you. This helps to filter what is really important and good quality thoughts.
Here are some things you can do instead of working:
đ Sleep in WITHOUT an alarm
This is one of my favourite things to do. I love going to bed and waking up without an alarm clock. Have you done that on a weekday recently?
đ Go to a Park
Mother nature is calling! Itâs time to head out for some inspiration. Go to a park for a walk, cycle, or walk your dog. Fresh air and some sun is always good.
đŤ Meet your Friends
Ask people out for dinner and you could even go grab a drink earlier before they reach!
đ Be a Tourist in Singapore
Iâm sure there are many places in Singapore that youâve never been to! Try heading there solo and seeing the sights with a whole new light! Most museums have free entry for locals too so WHY NOT?
âď¸ Go on a Last Minute Solo Trip
There are cheap flights to Malaysia or Bali! Or even better, take a bus down to JB, KL, Malacca, or whatever floats your boat! Get inspired by good food and museums.
There are so many things you can do instead of searching for more work to do. Reflect and think about the things you used to enjoy as a kid when you didnât want to studyâthose are the things you could enjoy now as an adult.
I see this lull period as the Universe giving me a break to recharge before a huge opportunity comes along. I think the Universe is the best project manager ever and will never want to overwhelm you so donât stress over a quiet period.
Flow with it, enjoy it, and have a good break.
With Love,
Chara
