How to Start Meditating? π«βοΈ
We all know the benefits of meditation by now since everyone has good things to say. If you havenβt heard about it, I wrote a post on it too: π Why I (Try to) Meditate Everyday
If you have been intrigued and unsure where to begin, here are some ways to get started on meditating:
01 Timed Deep Breaths π¨
Maybe itβs a huge commitment to just start on a full on meditation session without some baby steps. You can start off with your eyes closed, in any position you like, lying down or seated, and do a cycle of deep & slow breaths for 5 min and if that works, you can increase the session to 10 min, and then later 15 min. Giving yourself small goals not only makes it easier to attain, helps get you started into the routine.
02 Meditation Apps π±
There are a lot of good meditation apps out there. I use the Abraham Hicks appβitβs made by the authors of the law of attraction books that I love. It has a voiceover and a unique instrumental soundtrack to help you realign your thoughts and get lost in the music.
Another really good app is Oak. you get to choose the duration, the background noises, introductions, and types of voice. I love that you get to choose how long you need to get in the zone before the timer starts going off and THE BEST PART is you get to choose a background noise, like a fire place sound, the ocean waves, the rain, etc. The app also has daily notifications at the same time everyday to remind you to meditate.
03 Guided meditation on Youtube π§
I also look for unique guided meditations by Youtubers that are designed specifically for different intentions. I love that there are ones for confidence, for relaxation, for grounding, etc. Lots to explore and find. One of my favourite meditation channels is Pura Rasa I feel these meditations give me that out-of-body experience And there are so so so many to choose from.
A full meditation session can be daunting because its a whole 20 min of sitting still. I recommend starting with slow deep breaths either on your own or on an app like Oak where you can choose a shorter timing like 5min. Donβt be afraid to customise your session to your own needs. Itβs more important to know yourself and create an enjoyable experience than following what seems right and recommended.
I hope this helps and inspires β€οΈβ¨
With Love,
Chara
